The Goat That Vanished

eBook short story for the Kindle

Words: Ifeoma Onyefulu

Images: Emeka Malbert

Published Autumn 2013

BooksgoWalkabout, Cambs, UK

This is a story about what happens when the elders are disobeyed.

In one particular village, the elders, who were used to total obedience, requested a gift of a cow at a funeral. They were pretty confident they would get it. But they were given a goat instead

by the relatives of the deceased.

Naturally, they rejected it.

The Girl Who Married a Ghost

"This is a lovely compilation of stories from Africa and it's comforting that pride, envy...are human traits across all cultural backgounds..."

Look At This! Clothes

by Ifeoma Onyefulu

This is an excellent book for classroom and library use, to help children understand another culture.

The vibrant traditional clothing of Mali is shown alongside Western-type clothing and gives a lovely picture of the children of this country.

Photographed in Mali by a multi-award-winning author, this is a unique and culturally diverse word book, with lots to look at and talk about.

It gives a fascinating glimpse of a different world and the photographs are wonderful.

Look At This! Food

by Ifeoma Onyefulu

Interestingly, the foods are shown in both their raw and cooked form and this gives an excellent introduction to African foods.

Just one word accompanies each photo, but there is still plenty to talk about as you enjoy the bright photos with your child or in the classroom.

Ifeoma Onyefulu has written many books about Africa - she was brought up in Nigeria and her love for the country shines through in her books.

As the food available in our shops becomes more and more diverse, so some of the foods shown in this book may become familiar to us.
